VICTIMS OF CRIME REGULATION 2000 - REG 48

Guidelines—volunteers

The commissioner may make guidelines about the following:

        (a)     fixing minimum standards of qualifications or experience for people who volunteer to provide practical assistance and support to victims;

        (b)     the experience or knowledge required by a volunteer;

        (c)     the undertaking by a volunteer of continuing education in the provision of services to victims;

        (d)     the undertaking by a volunteer of training courses about dealing with people from a diversity of ethnic and cultural backgrounds;

        (e)     the use of people who have committed a serious crime as volunteers;

        (f)     the supervision of volunteers and the conducting of assessments and evaluations of the services provided by volunteers;

        (g)     the occupational health and safety of volunteers;

        (h)     indemnity insurance for the acts or omissions of volunteers;

              (i)     the debriefing of volunteers;

        (j)     other matters necessary or convenient to be decided with respect to volunteers.
