CRIMES REGULATIONS 2001 (2001 NO 42) - REG 3

Exemption for retail suppliers of knives—Act, s 497 (5)

Section 497 (1) (Retail supplier of knives to display sign) does not apply to a person who sells knives by retail if—

        (a)     the sale of knives is not a major part of the person's retail business; and

        (b)     the person displays, at each place where knives are displayed for sale, a sign, in type no smaller than 12 point, with the following text:

It is an offence to sell a knife to a person under the age of 16. Proof of age may be required.
