ELECTORAL REGULATIONS (NO. 24 OF 1993) - REG 5

5. (1) Where, to attend a meeting or otherwise in the performance of functions under the Act, it is necessary for a member to travel to or from the Territory, he or she is entitled to be paid—

(a) a travelling allowance in respect of that travel; and

(b) if he or she travels in a motor vehicle owned or hired by him or her—motor vehicle allowance in respect of that travel.

(2) Travelling allowance payable under paragraph (1) (a)—

(a) is the same as the travelling allowance payable to an officer of the Senior Executive Service in the Australian Public Service; and

(b) is in addition to, and does not include, the cost of conveyance.

(3) Motor vehicle allowance payable under paragraph (1) (b) is the same as the motor vehicle allowance payable to an officer of the Australian Public Service.

(4) In this regulation, “member” includes the Electoral Commissioner.
