EPIDEMIOLOGICAL STUDIES (CONFIDENTIALITY) REGULATIONS (NO. 24 OF 1992) - REG 4

4. (1) For the purposes of paragraph (b) of the definition of “prescribed study” in subsection 3 (1) of the Act, the Territory epidemiological study known as the Feasibility Research into the Controlled Availability of Opioids, being the study—

        (a)     in relation to the feasibility of a trial of providing opioids in a controlled manner to users of opioids in the Territory;

        (b)     that is conducted jointly by the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health and the Australian Institute of Criminology; and

        (c)     that commenced in May 1991;

is declared to be a study to which the Act applies.

(2) In subregulation (1)—

“opioid” means—

        (a)     opium; or

        (b)     a drug that has a morphine-like pharmacological effect, being a synthetic or semi-synthetic drug or an opium derivative.
