optometrist

to the extent necessary to practise optometry and, if employed, within the scope of employment, to deal as follows with medicines mentioned in the medicines and poisons standard, schs 2, 3 and 4:

(a)     issue purchase orders for the medicines;

(b)     issue requisitions for the medicines;

(c)     obtain the medicines;

(d)     possess the medicines;

(e)     administer the medicines.

optometrist whose registration is endorsed under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (ACT) , s 94

(a)     to deal with medicines as described in item 1, col 3; and

(b)     prescribe medicines that are included on the national list; and

(c)     supply medicines during consultations, if the medicines are—

              (i)     included on the national list; and

              (ii)     labelled as required under s 161.
