Australian Capital Territory Numbered Regulations Australian Capital Territory Numbered Regulations(1) If a police officer or authorised person suspects on reasonable grounds that a person has contravened these regulations, the police officer or authorised person may require the person to state the person's name and home address.
(2) A person must not—
(a) without reasonable excuse, fail to state his or her name and home address when required to do so under subregulation (1); or
(b) state a false name or home address in purported compliance with a requirement under that subregulation.
Maximum penalty: 10 penalty units.
Note An authorised person must first show his or
her identity card to a person before exercising a power under the road
transport legislation (see Road Transport (General) Act 1999 , s 21).
