TRADE MEASUREMENT (PRE-PACKED ARTICLES) REGULATIONS (NO. 29 OF 1991) - REG 34

34. (1) If the package containing a pre-packed article is, in accordance with these Regulations, marked “mass at standard condition” or with other words that have a similar meaning—

        (a)     the permissible actual deficiency is the deficiency specified in Column 2 of the Table to this regulation opposite the description of the class of article in Column 1 of that Table; and

        (b)     the permissible average deficiency is the deficiency specified in Column 2 of the Table to this regulation opposite the description of the class of article in Column 1 of that Table.

(2) If the article consists of a mixture of any 2 or more of class A, B or C fibres (as described in Column 1 of the Table to this regulation)—

        (a)     the permissible actual deficiency is the deficiency, expressed as a percentage, calculated in accordance with the formula 6 x + 2 y + 5; and

        (b)     the permissible average deficiency is the deficiency, expressed as a percentage, calculated in accordance with the formula 6 x + 2 y ;

where—

    x     is the proportion that the mass of all class A fibre (if any) in the article bears to the total mass of the article; and

    y     is the proportion that the mass of all class B fibre (if any) in the article bears to the total mass of the article.
