First Home Owner Grant Act 2000, section 56

EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

Purpose


The purpose of this amendment regulation is to allow the disclosure of protected information under the First Home Owner Grant Act 2000 (the Act) to the Commissioner of Taxation of the Commonwealth for the purposes of the administration of the First Home Saver Accounts Act 2008 (Cwlth) or any other cognate legislation.

Summary


Section 50 (2) of the Act prohibits the disclosure of protected information (as defined under section 50 (1) of the Act) by persons involved in the administration of the Act in certain circumstances. Section 50 (3) of the Act permits the disclosure of protected information in circumstances that are authorised by regulation.

Section 4 of this amendment regulation permits the disclosure of protected information to the commissioner of taxation of the Commonwealth where it is disclosed for the purposes of the commissioner’s administration of the First Home Saver Accounts Act 2008 (Cwlth) or any other cognate legislation.

Commencement

This amendment regulation commences on 1 July 2009, or at an earlier date determined by Commencement Notice.
