EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

The Gungahlin Drive Extension Authorisation Amendment Regulation 2006 (No 1) makes one additional territory law, a relevant law under section 9 of the Gungahlin Drive Extension Authorisation Act 2004.

1 Name of regulation
Clause 1 provides the name of the regulation, the Gungahlin Drive Extension Authorisation Amendment Regulation 2006 (No 1).

2 Commencement
Clause 2 specifies that the regulation commences on the day after notification.

3 Legislation amended
Clause 3 notes that the regulation amends the Gungahlin Drive Extension Authorisation Regulation 2004.

4 New Section 4 (e)
Clause 4 inserts a new section 4 (e) to provide that the following legislation is a relevant law under the Gungahlin Drive Extension Authorisation Act:

• Water Resources Act 1998.

This law is relevant to aspects of the construction of the Gungahlin Drive Extension project, and for this reason it is important it is included in the Gungahlin Drive Extension Authorisation Act.
