MACHINERY REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)
EXPLANATORY
STATEMENT
No. 8 of 1986
Section 5 of the Machinery Ordinance 1949 (“the
Ordinance”) provides that the Minister may make regulations for
regulating, prohibiting or restricting the installation, use and operation of
machinery and for securing the safety or persons and property from injury or
damage arising out of the installation, use or operation of
machinery.
Regulation 15 of the Inspection of Machinery Regulations is
amended –
(a) by providing that sub-regulation (6) refers to persons under the age of
16 years and not to males under 16 and any female;
(b) by providing that sub-regulation (7) refers to persons under the age of 18 years and not to males under 18 and any female;
(c) by substituting references to a female in sub-regulation (10) with references to an employee;
(d) by providing that paragraph (20 (b) refers to a person under the age of
18 years and not to a person other than a male person over 18.
