JURIES FEES REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)

EXPLANATORY MEMORANDUM

No. 3 of 1987

These Regulations, which are made under the Juries Ordinance 1968, amend the Schedule to the Juries Fees Regulations to increase the fees payable to jurors in the ACT Supreme Court.

The fees were last increased on 1 November 1982. The amendment increases the daily fee paid to a juror whose service does not exceed 4 hours from $30 to $40 and for a juror whose service exceeds 4 hours from $55 to $70.

The increase in fees is based on movements in the Consumer Price Index since the last increase.
