LEGAL PRACTITIONERS REGULATIONS (REPEAL) (NO. 27 OF 1986)
AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY
LEGAL PRACTITIONERS
REGULATIONS (REPEAL)
EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
No. 27 of
1986
The Regulation repeals the Legal Practitioners Regulations made under the
Legal Practitioners Ordinance 1970.
The Legal Practitioners Regulations
contained only one substantive provision, namely, a provision prescribing the
Legal Workshop at the Australian National University for the purposes of
entitlement to admission as a barrister and solicitor of the A.C.T. Supreme
Court under the Legal Practitioners Ordinance 1970.
The Legal
Practitioners (Amendment) Ordinance (No. 3) 1986 inserted a provision in the
Legal Practitioners Ordinance prescribing the Legal Workshop course together
with a general provision prescribing courses in practical legal skills in the
States for the purpose of entitlement to admission in the A.C.T.
This
amendment enabled the Legal Practitioners Regulations to be
repealed.
