REGULATIONS (AMENDMENT)
EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
No. 13 of
1986
The Motor Omnibus Services (Amendment) Ordinance 1986 amends the
Motor Omnibus Services Ordinance 1955 (“the Ordinance”) to enable
the Minister to set bus fares by determination.
The Motor Omnibus
Services Regulations (Amendment) (“the amending Regulations”) make
consequential amendments to the Motor Omnibus Services Regulations (“the
Regulations”). Details of the amending Regulations are set out
below.
Regulation 1 deals with interpretation.
Regulation 2
repeals regulation 16 of the Regulations. Regulation 16 empowered conductors,
police officers and inspectors to police the payment of bus fares. This matter
is now dealt with in the Ordinance.
Regulation 3 inserts a new regulation
36A into the Regulations. The regulation makes it an offence to interfere with
a section sign. This matter was previously dealt with by regulation 12 of the
Motor Omnibus Fares Regulations which have been repealed by the Motor Omnibus
Fares Regulations (Repeal).
