NURSING REGULATIONS (REPEAL) (NO. 21 OF 1988)
AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY
NURSING
REGULATIONS (REPEAL)
EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
No.
21 of 1988
The repeal of the Nursing Regulations is required as a result
of the repeal of the Nurses Registration Ordinance 1933 and making of the
Nurses Ordinance 1988. The Nursing Regulations deal with the form
of applications for registration and certificates of registration, details of
training for nurses, the prescription of educational qualifications for nurses,
the conduct of examinations for nurses, the prescription of certain rules
relating to the conduct and practice of nursing and the payment of fees for
matters under the Nurses Registration Ordinance 1933.
The
substance of the regulations relating to the payment of fees is to be carried
out by the proposed Nurses Ordinance 1987. New section 60 of that
Ordinance will provide that fees are to be determined by the Minister by written
notice in the Gazette. The other matters dealt with by the regulations are in
most cases outdated and no longer apply to the conduct and training of the
nursing profession, while some are to be dealt with in the Nurses
Ordinance 1988 and by administrative means.
