EXPLANATORY STATEMENT
Outline
The
Prohibited Weapons Act 1997 provides that a ‘crossbow or other
similar device manufactured on or after 1 January 1900’ is a prohibited
weapon. The Registrar of Firearms is able to issue a permit to possess or use a
crossbow where the applicant is a member of an approved archery club.
The
Prohibited Weapons Regulation 1997 contains a list of approved archery
clubs in the ACT. This list predates that establishment of the Tuggeranong
Archery Club Incorporated.
This Regulation will insert the Tuggeranong
Archery Club Incorporated into the list of approved archery
clubs.
