ROAD TRANSPORT (DRIVER LICENSING) AMENDMENT REGULATION
2015 (No 1)
Outline
This regulation amends the Road Transport
(Public Passenger Services)
Regulation 2002.
Section 84F
(3) of the Regulation currently requires the Road Transport Authority to publish
a notice in a daily newspaper advising of a ballot for the issuing of new
wheelchair accessible taxi licences, at least 35 days before the ballot.
This regulation amends section 84F (3) to shorten the notice period from
at least 35 days before the day of the ballot to at least 14 days before the day
of the ballot.
The amendment will make the process to get new wheelchair
accessible taxis on the road more efficient, while maintaining an adequate
period for potential applicants to become aware of the ballot.
There are
no human rights implications arising from the amendment made by this
regulation.
