WATER RESOURCES AMENDMENT REGULATION 2006 (NO 2) (NO 55 OF 2006)
Australian Capital Territory
Water Resources Amendment Regulation 2006 (No 2)
Subordinate Law SL2006-55
made under the
Water Resources Act 1998
The Water Resources Amendment Regulation 2006 (No 2) makes
amendments to section 4A of the Water Resources Regulation 2006 to provide an
exception to the moratorium for the abstraction of water in relation to
Gungahlin Drive Extension (GDE) works.
1 Name of regulation
Clause 1 provides the name of the
regulation, the Water Resources Amendment Regulation 2006 (No
2).
2 Commencement
Clause 2 specifies that the
regulation commences on the day after notification.
3 Legislation
amended
Clause 3 notes that the regulation amends the Water Resources
Regulation 2006.
4 New Section 4A
Clause 4 inserts a
new section 4A to provide and exception to the moratorium for the abstraction of
water in relation to GDE works.
The exception is to apply to any grant of
a water allocation that relates to part of the construction of the GDE or
related to the consequences of construction activities such as the suppression
of dust.
The exception will enable water to be taken from Lake
Ginninderra for these GDE related activities.
This regulation is
necessary as the GDE as a major public infrastructure project requires access to
non-potable water in reasonable proximity to the construction site.
