NORTHERN TERRITORY (SELF-GOVERNMENT) ACT 1978 - SECT 20

Qualifications for election

    Subject to section   21, a person is qualified to be a candidate for election as a member of the Legislative Assembly if, at the date of nomination:

  (a)   he or she is an Australian citizen;

  (b)   he or she has attained the age of 18 years;

  (c)   he or she is entitled, or qualified to become entitled, to vote at elections of members of the Legislative Assembly; and

  (d)   he or she has been resident within the Commonwealth for at least 6 months and within the Territory for at least 3 months.
