CRIMES (OVERSEAS) (DECLARED FOREIGN COUNTRIES) AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2004 (NO. 1) 2004 NO. 61 - SCHEDULE 1

(regulation 3)
[1] After regulation 5
insert
6 Papua New Guinea
- (1)
- For
paragraph 3C (1) (b) of the Act, Papua New Guinea is a declared
foreign country for the purposes of the Act in relation to designated persons.
- (2)
- A person is a designated person if:
- (a)
- the person is deployed to Papua
New Guinea as part of the package of enhanced cooperation that:
- (i)
- was agreed by the Government of Australia and the Government of Papua New
Guinea at the 15th Australia-Papua New Guinea Ministerial Forum held on 11
December 2003; and
- (ii)
- is referred to in the Joint Statement published on that date; and
- (b)
- the person's name is notified by the Department of Foreign Affairs and
Trade to the Papua New Guinea Department of Foreign Affairs and Immigration.
- (3)
- For subsection 3C (3) of the Act:
- (a)
- Papua New Guinea is to start
being a declared foreign country for the purposes of the Act on the date on
which this paragraph commences; and
- (b)
- Papua New Guinea is to cease being a declared foreign country for the
purposes of the Act on 30 June 2008.
