Notification of forfeiture
17C Notification of forfeiture
(1) The relevant authority must give a notice of intention to forfeit
relevant property (a
"forfeiture notice" ) in accordance with this section.
(2) The
relevant authority must, as soon as reasonably practicable, give the notice--
(a) to each person the relevant authority knows or reasonably suspects has a
beneficial interest in the relevant property, and
(b) no later than 28 days
before the end of the relevant period.
(3) The notice must include the
following-- (a) a description of the relevant property,
(b) the date on which
the relevant period will end,
(c) the way in which, and time within which, a
person may apply for an exclusion order.
(4) Failure to give a notice in
accordance with this section does not affect the forfeiture of
relevant property under this Division if reasonable steps were taken to give
the notice.
