CRIMINAL PROCEDURE ACT 1986 - SECT 226

226 Production by non-party
(1) If the person named in a subpoena for production is not a party to the
proceedings, the subpoena is, unless a court otherwise orders, to permit the
person to produce the document or thing to the court specified in the subpoena
not later than the day before the first day on which the person's attendance
is required, instead of attending and producing the document or thing as
required by the subpoena.
(2) The rules may make provision for or with
respect to the production of documents or things produced to a court under
subsection (1), and the return of the document or thing, and any related
matters.
(3) Nothing in this Part affects the operation of Division 1 of Part
4.6 of the Evidence Act 1995 (Requests to produce documents or call
witnesses).
