Taking of evidence of accused person
31AF Taking of evidence of accused person
(1) The Children's Court must give the accused person an opportunity to give
evidence under this Division and to call any witness on the accused person's
behalf.
(2) An accused person may make full answer and defence. An
accused person may give evidence and may examine and cross-examine the
witnesses giving evidence for the accused person or for the prosecution.
(3)
This section does not confer on an accused person any entitlement to require
the attendance of, or to examine or cross-examine, a prosecution witness or a
complainant except in the circumstances (if any) permitted by section 31AD or
31AE.
