CRIMES (FORENSIC PROCEDURES) ACT 2000 - SECT 43

43 Restrictions on publication
(1) A person must not intentionally or recklessly, in any report of a
proceeding under this Act, publish-- (a) the name of the suspect on whom a
forensic procedure is carried out or proposed to be carried out in relation to
an offence, or
(b) any information likely to enable the identification of the
suspect,
unless the suspect has been charged with the offence or the
Magistrate, by order, has authorised such publication. : Maximum penalty--50
penalty units or imprisonment for 12 months, or both.
(2) This section does
not make it an offence to publish the name of a suspect or any information
likely to enable the identification of a suspect if the publication is solely
for the purposes of the internal management of the NSW Police Force.
