CRIMINAL PRACTICE RULES 1999 - REG 54AI
Code of conduct for interpreters
(1) An interpreter must comply with the code of conduct.
(2) Unless the court
orders otherwise, as soon as practicable after an interpreter is engaged for a
proceeding, a copy of the code of conduct is to be given to the interpreter
by— (a) if the interpreter is engaged by a party—the party; or
(b) if the
interpreter is engaged by the court—the court.
(3) Unless the court orders
otherwise, a witness may not give evidence using an interpreter unless the
court is satisfied the interpreter has read the code of conduct and agreed to
be bound by it.
(4) Subrules (1) to (3) apply subject to rule 54AG.
