9—Authorisation by senior police officer
A senior police officer may, by instrument in writing, authorise the carrying
out of a forensic procedure specified in the instrument on a protected person
if the officer is satisfied that—
(a) it
is impracticable or inappropriate to obtain consent to the procedure from the
relevant person—
(i)
because of the difficulty of locating or contacting that
person; or
(ii)
because that person, or a person related to or associated
with him or her, is under suspicion in relation to a criminal offence; and
(b) the
carrying out of the procedure is justified in the circumstances of the case.
