45—Using vehicles or animals without consent of owner
(1) A person who uses
any vehicle (other than a motor vehicle as defined in Part 1 of the
Road Traffic Act 1961 ), horse or other beast of burden without the
consent of the owner is guilty of an offence.
Maximum penalty: $2 500 or imprisonment for 6 months.
(2) Upon convicting a
person for an offence against this section, the court may order the convicted
person to pay to the owner of the vehicle, horse or other beast such sum as
the court thinks just by way of compensation for the loss caused to the owner
by the convicted person.
