(1) A police officer may at any time stop or detain a person if there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that the person has in his or her possession (a) property that is not lawfully acquired; or(b) property of a person that is named in a specified restraining order; or(c) property that is at risk of forfeiture; or(d) property-tracking documents relating to wealth.(2) In addition to subsection (1) , a police officer may at any time stop or detain a person (the detainee ) if there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that another person is holding, on behalf of the detainee (a) property that is at risk of forfeiture; or(b) property-tracking documents.(3) A police officer may, for the purposes of exercising a power under subsection (1) or (2) , stop or detain any thing being used as a means of transportation.(4) If a police officer stops or detains a person under subsection (1) or (2) , the police officer may (a) search the person in accordance with this Part; and(b) search any baggage, package, electronic device, animal, vehicle or any other property apparently in the possession or under the control of the person.(5) When exercising his or her powers under this section, a police officer may use any reasonable force and any assistance the police officer thinks reasonable.(6) In this section, a power to stop or detain includes the power to stop and detain.
