PARLIAMENT OF VICTORIA Initiated in Council on by the Hon. Peter Hall A BILL to amend the Crimes Act 1958 and for other purposes. Crimes (Contamination of Goods Offences) Act 2005 The Parliament of Victoria enacts as follows: 1. Purpose The purpose of this Act is to extend the definition of "intention" within Division 4 of Part I of the Crimes Act 1958. 2. Crimes (Contamination of Goods Offences) Act 2005 s. 3 Act No. 3. Amendment to the Crimes Act 1958 After section 252 of the Crimes Act 1958 insert '253. Extended meaning of "intention" For the purposes of this Division, a person 5 who engages in conduct referred to in section 249, 250 or 251 also has the intention of (a) causing public alarm or anxiety; or (b) causing economic loss through public 10 awareness of the contamination of goods if the person knows, or in all the particular circumstances the person ought to have understood, that engaging in the conduct 15 would be likely to cause public alarm or anxiety or cause economic loss through public awareness of the contamination of goods.'. 2 551PM2B.I1-16/8/2005 BILL LC INTRODUCTION 16/8/2005
