The dictionary at the end of these regulations is part of these regulations.

Note     The dictionary at the end of these regulations defines certain terms used in these regulations, and includes references ( signpost definitions ) to other terms defined elsewhere in these regulations.

    For example, the signpost definition ‘"family member", for schedule 3—see schedule 3, clause 1.' means that the term ‘ family member ' is defined for that schedule in that clause.

Note 2     A definition in the dictionary (including a signpost definition) applies to the entire regulations unless the definition, or another provision of the regulations, provides otherwise or the contrary intention otherwise appears (see Legislation Act, s 155 and s 156 (1)).
