FIREARMS REGULATIONS (NO. 13 OF 1997) - REG 24
24. (1) The Registrar may authorise the possession and use of a tranquilliser firearm by permit if satisfied that the possession and use is a necessary part of the occupation of the applicant.
(2) A permit to possess and use a tranquilliser firearm authorises the person
named in it to use the firearm only in the ordinary course of the person's
occupation.
(3) A permit to possess and use a tranquilliser firearm may
authorise persons other than the applicant to possess and use a tranquilliser
firearm and where it does so, each authorised person shall be specified in the
permit.
(4) In subregulation (1)—
“tranquilliser firearm”
means a firearm designed for use in tranquillising, immobilising or
administering vaccines or medication to an animal. Acquisition, possession
