3.9     Board membership—Act, s 24

    (1)     The board is made up of the following people (including the president):

        (a)     4 elected members;

        (b)     5 appointed members.

    (2)     The elected members must be—

        (a)     3 nurses elected by nurses; and

        (b)     a midwife elected under schedule 4.

    (3)     The Minister must ensure that the board members appointed include the following people:

        (a)     a registered nurse;

        (b)     a midwife;

        (c)     an enrolled nurse;

        (d)     2 community representatives who are not entitled to be registered or enrolled.

    (4)     The president must be—

        (a)     a registered nurse; or

        (b)     a midwife; or

        (c)     an enrolled nurse.

Note     The Minister may appoint a person as president only if the person has been registered for a continuous period of at least 3 years immediately before the day of appointment (see s 5 (2)). "Register" includes enrol (see Act, dict, def "register").

    (5)     In this section:

"midwife" means an individual who is registered as a midwife under schedule 4.
