MEDICINES, POISONS AND THERAPEUTIC GOODS REGULATION 2008 (NO 42 OF 2008) - REG 30

Authorisation under sch 1 to prescribe medicines—Act, s 40 (1) (b), (2) (b) and (3) (b)

    (1)     A person mentioned in schedule 1, column 2 is authorised to prescribe a medicine if—

        (a)     prescribing the medicine is included in the schedule, column 3 in relation to the person; and

        (b)     the prescribing is consistent with any restriction for the prescribing mentioned in the schedule, column 3; and

        (c)     if the prescription is a self-prescription of the medicine—

              (i)     the person is not a trainee dentist or intern doctor; or

              (ii)     the medicine is not a restricted medicine.

    (2)     In this section:

"restricted medicine" means—

        (a)     an anabolic steroid; or

        (b)     a designated appendix D medicine; or

        (c)     a benzodiazepine; or

        (d)     a controlled medicine.
